This time of year can be marked by so much fanfare and excitement.
It’s okay to get swept up, and it’s also totally okay not to.
Yoga practitioners the world over will wake up and engage in their personal routines unimpacted by the calendar date.
In my book, it’s a total boss move to show up and do whatever it is you do without attaching it to a goal or earning applause of any kind.
It’s those humble sessions logged — no new poses unlocked, no new spiritual heights reached — that make up a real and rich yoga practice.
It’s the day-in, day-outness — you could even say the “boring” nature of it — that makes yoga such a powerful anchor for well-being and a touchstone for connection.
2026
This year, I invite you to embrace the humble quality of the practice we share.
After all, a lifelong yoga practice, like a beautiful marriage, gifts you its most meaning-packed moments in the most understated packages.
Let your yoga be like a morning embrace or a cup of something warm prepared by loving hands.
This January’s Focus:
Sensuousness
According to every Myers-Briggs test I’ve ever taken, I’m a “T” for Thinker, not an “F” for Feeler and an “N” for Intuiting, not an “S” for Sensing (What are you??).
Maybe that’s part of the reason it feels so gosh-darn healing and ecstatic to put my awareness in my body and simply feel around with attention.
On the mat, this translates to being transported and absolutely inundated with happiness when doing the simplest things: I think of a crescent lunge, holding elbows overhead and leaning to one side.
According to the ancients, yoga is a path of getting out of your own head, so let’s not take these minor moments lightly!
When I say “Sensuous,” it’ll inevitably sound like something sexual, and I’m not against that, but that’s not what I’m pointing to.
Instead, sensuousness this month is your invitation to live more wholly in your body, to occupy it like a resident who lovingly curates a comfortable home.
You’ll find practices this January that feel gushy, sensual, and quietly powerful. My wish for you is that you feel so at home, so natural, so freaking alive, vibrant, gorgeous, radiant, and confident for such a lingeringly long time after each session that you cannot help but seek it out again when the supply feels like it’s running low.
(Of course, the supply is coming from you and can never ever run out.)
I want these practices to support your life and help you to know yourself as an unstoppably creative and ever-expanding force for love, rest, healing, beauty and peace.

A Year-Long Experiment That Won’t Stop
About a year ago, I got off of social media on a whim. As a business move, it was maybe not advisable (lots of new people tend to find me from Instagram), but I just didn’t care. I’m here to live a human life and I want to do it in a way that feels resonant with my soul or whatever you want to call that deeper experience of being alive. Hustling was never my thing.
I’ve kept a connection, so far, to YouTube, because I feel more nourished by the content there and because it was my OG playground for sharing yoga.
But I gotta tell ya, I have not missed the social meds for a single day. This isn’t a lesson or advice, just a friendly share.
Some of you have told me that you get overwhelmed by it too. It’s comforting to know that we can exist, that we do exist, timelessly, in a space beyond the noise. So I’ve decided to settle here for a while.
What’s new with you?
Brewing in the New Year
- I’m dreaming of bringing my studio into my actual home. I’ve got a full-on house, if you know what I mean, so it won’t always be pretty if I do make the move — but I’m digging the idea of that project. Thoughts?
- I intend to run a March cohort of online Yoga Teacher Training for 200 hrs.
- Continue the slow living trajectory. Keep creating a beautiful and comfortable home a la a more “S” type.
- Walking. More walking. More woods.
- Weights. Perimenopause be calling for moving heavy weights. Calves and quads of steel. Any advice?
Looking forward to another year together. Thank you for contributing your energy to this humble portal and for supporting my work.
I’m grateful for you everyday.
In sacred, beautiful peace,
